Where can I buy a cheap rod support? (i^ll use it on the dvx with a 35mm adapter (my35), lens and an follow focus from redrocks)

-the team from guerilla35 bringes one out for 250
-redrocks has one for 350
-SG35 is with the adapter 350

but I saw on the internet some for 130, but known't know where.
can someone help me?

Oli, you can use Cavision's RS15IIm on the 100a/b with standard iris rods. If you want to use a DOF converter, you'll need to order longer rods - 18" should fill the bill. It retails for $190 with 10" standard 15mm rods.

good luck getting them, all the retailers I have seen have them on backorder- been waiting close to 5 weeks now after ordering from EVS. Cavision seems to be taking thier time filling orders.

maybe a moose ran off with thier stock...
 
i was just about to order my own from evs as well till i saw this thread.
has anyone tried ordering them straight from cavision?
they're the same price as evs. ($180)

edit: im planning to call cavision tomorrow to see what's up.
 
yeah the rod support is pretty decent.. the rods are the coolest thing i think cavision makes (the carbon fiber ones). its a pretty basic machined part though, so i dont know what the stock issue is about.
 
Hi DVXUsers,

We have few ExDemo plate+rods kits left. The plates can be mounted on standard camera plates (e.g. 501) or used as QR plates with the standard Sony
VCT-U14 QR plate.

I can supply them with longer rods, 18" from camera screw.

The Cavision People Are Terrific To Work With..fast, Easy And Dependable.

I Have Their Matte Box And Classic Support System, Its Been Through Hell And Back Without A Scratch.

Yesterday, We Received The New Dvx Support Plate ..its The Bomb, I Highly Reccomend It, Cavsion Will Also Cut Rods To Any Length You Can Dream Of, Just Let Them Know When You Order.

The Difference In Ordering Direct Or From A Local Dealer Is Frankly The Fact That Cavision Is Based In Western Canada , And Ships By Fedex International.....very Costly, But Again, Very Dependable!!!

i dont think anything is up with EVS.. i think Cavision just did some crappy ship management and EVS asked them to clean it up before they ordered again.

well, maybe it is Cavision- I also have a mattbox and french flag on order from B&H (since EVS didnt carry it)- also 5 weeks and counting.....

both EVS and B&H tell me "soon"

I've always ordered from Cavision direct - Jason is a great point of contact there.

They have some great new products coming out - the 4 x 5.65 16:9 mattebox is an awesome bargain.

I am working diligently to find a way to stock DVX and HVX iris rod, matte box and follow focus options. This should be done by the end of the first quarter at the latest.

I just got off the phone with Cavision to see if I could get it any faster:

RS-15IIM - $190.00
Shipping (AZ)- $40.00 (ouch)
Customs - $3.9% (about $8)

about $238

From EVS- $190.00 w/ Shipping

so about a $48 difference from the factory vs EVS (more with the DVX user discount). I guess I will wait :undecided

Lol...too true, i'm to the point of giving my mat box away.
 
just got word back from rush tellin' me that they're out of the cavision rod support over at EVS.

seems like ill have to order from cavision.
 
Thought I'd chime in....I want to order a set of these rods as well and have been waiting for them to be in stock.

WTF!!!!

I'd like to be patient and understanding but come on, it's your (their) job to manufacture and sell these things and they're messing it up.

what the hell is wrong.

I'm over reacting but it's so annoying how DV supplies are always "out of stock" and hard to come by.

Make more people, it's a simple concept.

Ramzi at EVS gave me the word that a new shipment was just sent from Cavision, so I should be getting it tomorrow. Also B&H just email me that the Matte box/French Flag is on the way, should get that by tues. Fingers crossed...

I think stock supply is gonna be what everyone thinks of when they look back and think of January 2006.
