Honestly (and not at all trying to be negative for its own sake) I just aint diggin these things very much. I guess out of the bunch I was most intrigued by the Vixen Les Paul, even though I aint a chick....nor gay. I like the streamlined body and I like the idea of a thinner neck, but I definately would have to get a new truss rod cover that says about anything but Vixen. I'm also a little tired of so many things catering to the meathead market such as the biker vibe with the brass knuckle adornments they mentioned (though I didn't see a picture) and the GT crap trying to make a guitar look like a racecar. I mean, I dont sip out of a cup with my pinky stickin out or anything, but I believe these nowadays rare and rapidly depleting tone woods should be given the refined respect they deserve. The Studio Premium came the closest to reaching that goal....now that looked like a nice piece of work!

Really though, I've generally considered myself a Fender man more than Gibson, though I'm not very brand loyal to guitar companies....they both kinda hit my gut with a feeling I do not enjoy......it's like I'm 75% with em, but there is some strange force that is too abstract for me to crystalize and communicate that repulses me from them.

It might help if I explain that I must feel a very deep spiritual bond with a musical instrument or any other creative tool.....I hate to use this cliche, but it does have to feel somewhat Excaliburlike for me to be able to use it effectively. Over the years I have gone through many instruments including a couple of vintage SG's and a Tele, but none have fullfilled me quite like my $100 Yamaha acoustic which was my first guitar when I was twelve years old and the only one I still own.....but man, I do have a need for electricity and sustain. I wouldnt mind trying one of them thar Parker Flys....but I cant stand flys and I wish they would name it something else and put some damn fret markers on em. I gotta be able to look down and see where I am and know where I want to go.

Truth be told, I dont think I'll ever be satisfied until I can commision someone to make me a full on custom out of oak. I have no idea how oak would sound, but something in my gut tells me thats what I need.

I just spent a few moments trying to imagine the suits at tables having the meetings and discussions that led to the creation of these new models and it was pretty scary stuff. Some folk have little business being proud of what they have done with themselves to make their living. May they all begin to have legitimate dreams and vision......may they learn to connect with the intimate and tender soul of positive creativity.....may they wake up refreshed and confused at how they were once able to live as automatonic drones with hotshot powerlunched cell phones.

And now to disappear into the mists..........

I dont see any prices there. I am planning on getting my daughter a guitar in september (her first). Whats the average prices?
I havnt checked into them yet but since this post is here i figured i would ask.

I've never had a Gibson, but played with a friend's les paul custom a few years back. Nice guitar. I'm more a gretch hollowbody & strat guy

But I would sure like a LP to shred on when I feel the need to rock out comin on!

They look cool...some of the colors are kinda whacck thou..like the pink LP...

I personally like Gibson and Fender both...but I mostly on a vintage LP custom i bought about a year ago. It plays sooo smooooooooooooooth cuz i have the rounded off frets so they more smoother to glide up and down on....LP's i think are really sweeet guitars...

..my 2 cents..
