So I went and updated Final Cut Pro. The update broke the Log and Transfer. PCMS is imperfect, as FCP will only recognize a few of the MXF files as clips; so a reinstall is in order, that'll get the P2 import working again. But now I have updated projects that won't open.

I need to get these projects to open, because otherwise it means a number of complete do-overs. I could update FCP again but then I'm back in the same boat with the P2. Not happy with Apple at the moment. Ideas?
 
as a temp fix, could you install the older version of fcp on a separate drive? then run that one to capture p2 then the new one for your updated projects. do you have quicktime 7.4? downgrading to 7.3.1 may solve some problems.
 
I'm already downgraded to 7.3.1...you'd think I'd have learned my lesson right?

Thanks for the advice, that'll probably save me.
 
The updated project issue has hit me a number of times too. I always "Save As" immediately after the project gets updated for the new version. Then I keep working with my new project file and I hold on to the old one for a few weeks to see what happens. Updating FCP and QT are always so tricky!!
