Robocop totally rocks!!! Classic. It was way ahead of its time in 1987, and is still better than a lot of CGI abominations out now. Ronnie Cox is always great as the ultimate villain that you cant stand(Dick Jones)!! Watching Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker("BITCHES LEAVE!") is way cooler than watching him sing backup to a bunch of unfunny teens in a show with a horribly fake laugh track. The social commentary is funny and thought provoking, without being too preachy. Of course, guns, blood, and "I'll buy that for a dollar" was just gravy on the fries.
Well, I think it's good. Sure, lots of the ideas are absurd, but the movie really seems to buy into all the fiction, like they were totally buying into the world they'd created.
What I remember from my original viewing is the good and disturbing use of violence. Murphy getting his hand shot off seemed so appropriately bad. And the ED robot rocked!
Robocop is classic satire at its best. I love it when the ammount of violence and humor are properly mixed. Not my favorite Verhoeven film, but one of his better "American" flicks. His early foriegn flicks were extremely well done.

AND both scored by Basil Poledourais, my favorite film composer.
