Robert McKee's Story Seminar

Super excited.... just found out my company is paying for me to go to McKee's N.Y. Story seminar Oct. 24th - 26th. Anybody going or has already been there? I've been wanting to go for the last 5 years but my schedule didn't permit. Super Super Super excited!!! Also rockin out our new storyboard software. It's a .pdf file but the software is so cool. It took us less than 6 hours to do the storyboard. www.reeldealediting.com/adcopy.pdf (might take a minute to load up) Having a very good monday so far. Woot!!!

Yeah I heard he is a bit much and Brian Cox's performance as him in Adaptation seems to back it up. But what can you do. Give me the Pearls... that's all I care about.

Take a quick read on this article about his methods...versus the other big hitters in the story/script seminar business. It's a good way to get a jump on his seminar and know what the others teach as well. Just to let you know I don't endorse any of these gurus...just posting the article. http://filmschoolnow.com/gurus

I've been twice.

Once to his 4 day Story seminar and a couple of years later he did a "Genre Weekend" - comedy and horror.

The guy really, REALLY knows his stuff!

I would add (repetition for the sake of emphasis) that he can come off as VERY abrasive to some - he doesn't pull any punches. However, that said I would probably even go again. It's well worth the money!

Structure, structure, STRUCTURE!

There is a Genre weekend the weekend before. Horror, Comedy & Love Story. The Story seminar is 3 days long and has been for a while to my knowledge.
