Risk assessment. How do you go about in doing this?

I am asked to do a risk assessment for my short film. Do I evaluate every scene and state out what may or may not be a risk?

What is the point of predicting what may be?

Are you talking about "cause & effect?"

The effect won't come unless something causes it? You break that down by events that occur in the story. Not sure if that's what you mean.

Here's a PDF I found from google: http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg163.pdf

Basically, its going to the location/set and assessing any risks that may occur to the crew.

That is a big 'may' and really, I think it sucks because if you have multiple of sets/locations and you're expected to do a risk assessment then that's a lot of man hour wasted.

It's not insurance (although you are required to be insured) and have a public liability insurance and on top of that, there is this risk assessment!

I'm sure there is a reason to why it is required but it sucks

ah, i see.

that does suck. but it'll be worth it. it's just making sure you've got your head on straight.

good luck!

Perhaps you can find a student who does Safety&Security, who will do that for you just for experience. Risk-assesments a one of the basics in that area, and can best be learned by just making/doing them for real.

Just an idea.
