RIP Roger Ebert

Ahhh man.... I grew up on that guy.... I still remember his Raiders of the Lost Ark review.

I grew up in Chicago in the 70's-80's, when Roger and Gene started At The Movies on the local station. He will be missed.

Aaaaawww man, well it's nice to think that he's back with his buddy Gene.

I loved at the movies. One of the greatest film lessons I ever got was their review of Alien. They were deconstructing the "air duct" scene and explaining why it was so effective, blew my mind. I never saw a movie the same way after that.

Well done, sir!

He was a critic in the best sense--never snarky and never condescending towards artists who were putting out honest work. Rest in peace.

Roger Ebert was one of the great minds of our time.

I'm deeply saddened by the news.

Whether you agreed with him or not... he was incredibly well-spoken... and had a way of making points so eloquently...

*sigh*

I'll miss you old boy.

Whether you agreed with Roger's taste or not, there is no denying his importance to the movie world. It's incredible to think that a critic could have as much impact on the cinema world as many of the great filmmakers. He is probably single-handedly responsible for introducing more people to great films than any other man in history. Not to mention, he was one hell of a writer. His absence will truly be felt.

Two thumbs up for a great critic, gifted writer, and someone who knew the difference between criticism and viciousness.

We'll miss him greatly...
