Holy cow! He'd only been on the radio for a hundred years, I figured he'd be around for another hundred. He always had a good show, unlike the extremely biased and prejudiced Right wingers.
I really liked Paul... he's one of the odd celebs that I would love to have met. He used to come to the applebutter festival here in MO... less then 45 minutes from my house.
OMG. This dude was awesome. He was straight old school. I used to listen to this guy when I was a kid. He had such great delivery. We'd be driving to pick my mom up from work and they'd come on and say "Stay tuned for the rest of the story with Paul Harvey." I always wanted to see how he looked because I had heard him some many times.
I don't remember anything specific because I was so young but I remember his voice and I remember listening but not really knowing what he was talking about but I was trying to pay attention. I can also remember him correcting some fact but for the life of me I don't have any idea what it was.
"My father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news. So in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents and today millions have lost a friend."
- Paul Harvey Jr.
I guess this says it all. 1918? Dude, 1918. I guess I can't say anything, there's members of my church who were born earlier but to see it in writing.
Read his bio. How smooth was Paul Harvey?
"While working at St. Louis radio station KXOK, he met Washington University graduate student Lynne Cooper. He proposed on their first date (she said "no") and always called her "Angel." They were married in 1940 and had a son, Paul Jr."
