Altered States and The Devils were highly influential movies for me.
Its sad he's no longer with us, but he's left a legacy of great, weird and controversial movies that everyone can either admire or dislike... (ranging from Women in Love & Tommy right through to his later work) and I'm sure Ken would have wanted it that way.
Gone but not forgotten.

It is sad news. Women in Love, Tommy, The Devils, Mahler and Altered States were all movies I really enjoyed. Even his latter works, like Crimes of Passion and Whore, while not possibly up to his earlier work, were definitely worth a watch. He was never boring! RIP.

Talk about marching to the beat of your own drummer ("Tommy can you hear me?").

Hey, if Kubrick admired him, then I certainly can.

Sad to hear, he was great.
Really mad that I missed him at a screening of The Devils in NYC last year.
