Rip DVD to edit in Premiere (Mac)

Hi all,

I'm a new CS5.5 user and my edit will require using some old 8mm footage that has been transferred to a dvd. What's the best approach and workflow for Premiere Pro I should take when ripping the dvd?

You can just browse the DVD in your computer and copy the .VOB's to your hard drive and add them directly into Premiere.

Like Phi said you can work directly with VOB files. If material is split across VOB's there will be a glitch where the two VOB's join on the timeline. If you were on a PC you could use a little app like JoinVOBFiles to join all the VOB's into a single VOB, which eliminates the glitch. There's probably something equivalent for the Mac.
