I just re-watched "Easy Rider" a couple of times, and listened to the commentary by Dennis Hopper. What an amazing film. Hopper, Peter Fonda, Laszlo Kovacs and everyone involved in that film really hooked into the zeitgeist of the times. While released in 1969, the film was shot during 1968, and, for anyone not up on their history of the last half of the twentieth century, 1968 was one of the most turbulent years in history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968
What an amazing achievement. Made on a budget of about $340, 000.00 ($2.1 million in today's dollars), it had grossed $60,000, 000 by 1972 ($312 million in today's dollars).
If you haven't seen "Easy Rider", lately, I highly recommend it, especially with Dennis Hopper's commentary.
While watching it, I could help but think about what great images Dennis and Laszlo were working on now! Dennis Hopper, May 17, 1936 - May 29, 2010. Laszlo Kovacs, May 14, 1933 – July 22, 2007. RIP.
