RIP Cinematographer Allen Daviau of Covid-19

[Batutta]

This one hurt. Maybe my favourite cinematographer. Empire of the Sun is a masterwork of cinematography. Then there's E.T., The Color Purple, Bugsy, Avalon. He didn't work nearly enough. Goddamn coronavirus.

Definitely some iconic classics. And definitely sad to hear.

Bollocks. F*ck, I hate this thing. I worked with him many, many years ago. Good guy. Very talented.

Aww, man, this is making me sad. He was a great DP, I interviewed him about 10 years ago for a project. A very nice man, majorly accomplished cinematographer.
RIP MR. Daviau, you leave behind a body of cinema classics.

E. T. looks stunning.

He was also technically astute. Wasn't he involved in the Digital Cinema specifications?

I remember watching a Sony demo of the F900 where he set up an A-B comparison with film. I could not tell the difference. I wish I could find it the video. Everything else I've seen shot with the F900 (including Star Wars) I could definitely tell the difference
