Ringlight help: How to get a larger reflection?

I have an upcoming gig filming speciality shots of a woman's face with some stylized lighting on a black background. Producer is requesting a few shots with a ring light look so I rented a 15" ring light. Been playing around with it and the resulting halo catchlight is quite small and defined, staying within the boundaries of the pupal, which makes for a pretty weird and jarring effect (IMO). Any simple ways to increase the size of the halo, besides of course getting the lens closer to the eye? Thinking a round softbox would at least soften the edges of the halo if not increase the size, but not sure how to DIY that. Maybe, cut a hole in one of my circular flexfills and shoot through that? But before I do that, just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with making the nice big soft ring light look?

For making it bigger, you can get the lens closer to the eye, get the light closer to the eye, or even better, both. Or you can get a bigger ring light. Thinking about the physics of this issue, I think that's about it.

For making it softer, you can go with something like this, if it fits your ring light. It's not designed for motion, though.

Not an answer to your question, but I've never been a fan of the ring light reflection in the subjects eyes, either and don't get some peoples obsession with it. Yes, I get "catch lights", but unless you're purposefully going for something funky or "alien like/animal like", I don't like the ring light catch light, in general.
