Would I need special permission from the NFL to talk about different teams and players in a short film? (I hope this is the right section to ask this in)
I am not sure if youd need permission or not. I have a video out now that has a shot of Famous Hip Hop DJ Funkmaster Flex looking right at my DVX camera and commenting on how cool the camera looked while he signed autographs at an event I was at. I didnt get his permission to use a clip of him but he knew I was recording him. If he had a problem he would have told me to turn the camera off. All of his "entourage" people were with him too and they too were in awe of my camera!
However networks like MTV are known to blur out products or people that I guess they didnt get permission to use or who didnt sign some sort of release form. I just watched a documentary on MTV last weekend where Kanye West was talking about getting some inspiration from Stevie Wonder and they showed Kanye looking at a video of Stevie. Well MTV blurred out the screen so you couldn't see Stevie but they allowed Kanye to say his name and talk about him...I am kinda of confused about that now that I think about it!
