Rich Lee's AR LCD display

I read in a topic awhile back that Rich Lee had made a nice little jpg of printable LCD displays to guide you when you're shooting in different AR's.

Now, I have those pictures saved on my computer, but I'm not exactly sure where to get the right paper to print it on.

I know what it is, but I don't know what kind of paper it is...what would I ask for at an office depot or similar?

Just a film paper? Or what?

Thanks alot.

Is it just transparent paper, though? I'm pretty sure it's the stuff that is like a sticker, but it isn't sticky.

It sticks on most plastic things, but can be taken off and put on again. Like the stickers you'd get in teh 80's and put on a car window...

Was I wrong when I read that? Does anyone have a link to that thread? I can't find it through Search.

I remember reading about this... it uses some type of electrostatic force go stick to plastic or glass, but honestly don't know where to start looking.

What I do is this:

  • Turn the letterbox on.
  • Put a pair of frosted scotch tape strips over the display so they cover the dark letter box bars.
  • Turn letterbox off.
You end up with a semi-transparent mask over your display. If you shoot in anamorphic or squeeze mode, it's very close to 2.35:1 aspect ratio, you do the rest in post.

Yeah, I just really liked the concept behind Rich's design.
It made alot of sense, and seems reasonable enough...

I PMed him about it, hopefully he'll have an answer soon. If so, I'll put what he wrote here.

I purchased a dark soft plastic strip for motorcycle visors. It's normally applied to the top edge of clear visors to provide shade. It's easy to trim and peels easily on and off the LCD. You should be able to find it under $5.

yo, i used window decals that you can get at office depot. they are temporary, so they wont harm the lcd at all.

glad your diggin them!

peace out!

Rich: since there's not an Office Depot near me (well, within 20 feet), I ordered them online. The price was twice that of going in to the store (10 dollar HANDLING fee)...but it's not worth it to get up...

So hopefully they'll be here soon.

Thanks again, Rich.
