Ribbed shirt = wavy colors = severe annoyance

I'm working on an 30p HDV clip in Final Cut, and the talent happens to be wearing a green ribbed t-shirt. Now I'm getting the dreaded wavy effect in the curves of the shirt (see attached image).

Does anyone happen to know of a way to clean this up in FCP? I'm sure there's a filter of some kind, but I don't even know where to start.

Thanks!

Consider it a lesson learned- avoid busy patterns and the color red whenever you can...

Not in FCP, but if you have FCP you should also have COLOR. Since the shirt is all green you could create a matte in the secondaries room and adjust the luma curve. That should help alleviate the moire pattern. If you are not comfortable with COLOR you could acheive the same with just about any recent version of After Effects.

Never forget the casting agents mantra tho – No Blacks No Whites, No Stripes, No Logos.
