Review of Shane Hurlbut's Illumination Experience

I also attended the tour (day one only) in Chicago. All I can say is WOW- did I get my money's worth. And in a day or two I will have a download of the whole thing for future reference. For me, the best part was watching them light an actor with $20,000 worth of Hollywood lights, take a screenshot from the C500, then break everything down and re-light with $200 worth of lights fabricated by Shane from components available at Home Depot, and take another screenshot. No one could possibly tell the two shots apart. Shane wasn't advocating using just hardware type lights, but he sure made the point that if push comes to shove, you can do a lot with a little.

Thanks for the review Chris, I'm saving up a little to purchase the recording of the seminars, Shane's blog has been hugely educational for me.

I wasn't there, but I'm guessing he wasn't saying you can do a lot with a little but more that someone talented with the right knowledge can do a lot with a little. (A.k.a. it is more about the person than the gear.)

Would love to be able to attend one of these as I think you can often learn a lot from extremely talented people.
