Revert back to Premiere 1.0?

Hi,
I'm getting that strobey/flickering/jerk problem when using Premiere 1.5 and 24p footage. Also, I want to mix 60i footage with 24p footage. I know there are problems and bugs with Premiere 1.5 and 24p stuff.

Should I revert back to Premiere 1.0 for now? What did you guys do?

You can have Premiere (or you should be able to ) 1.0 and 1.5 installed simultaniously. I never made the jump to 1.5 (I bailed shortly after experiencing 1.0 with the dvx) but you could always have previous versions installed simultaniously on your machine.

.. im still not actually sure why some people are having problems and others arent.

hah! ::) thats cause im so special! ..

but, when i get home tonight, im going to test the living daylights out of it. i tested it before, and had no faults, but im going to throw all the crap i can at it and see whats up..

For one of the tests, just tell me if you can combine 24p material with 60i material on the same timeline without having to render one or the other. Thanks. ;)

Re: Revert back to Premiere 1.0?

..k so after very extensive testing i still do not get any strobing or flickering when editing, or after exporting 24p files.  but what does burn my eggs is that  it seems that you cannot import one large file (1 hour or close to 1 hour long)containing multiple scenes/takes shot in 24p and have it remove the pulldown from it all properly. it seems that it detects the cadance from the first scene/take imported, and continues that cadance throughout the rest of the file.. even though the next clip in the file will likely not have the interlaced frame to be dropped in the same place as the first clip. so the pulldown gets all screwed up after the first clip.. unless your lucky, and it happens to fall into the same cadance again  for some other random clip in the file.  so it would seem you need to cut up the file on import into smaller files so it will pull it down correctly. this is really lame for me because i usually just capture the whole tape, and cut it up in the NLE cause its faster, and no deck wear to scrub all around and find the needed parts.

lmerino: i can edit 24p on a 60i timline with no render through the matrox card in ppro 1.5. but  according to the adobe literature, 1.5 will automatically recognize and remove the pulldown from any 24p files regardless of the project setting.. which is very stupid. so you would have to render.  you should be able to select it at will. and it should be flexible enough to recognize changing cadances within a large file and pull it down accordingly. ... so I'll for sure be bombardig adobe with update and feature requests for a while.. these little fixes should certainly be included as a free patch.  i just like the editing style and integration of premiere so much.. it just fits my thinking style ..so  im not about to change over, but man is it ever frustrating that they seem to have just rushed 24p support in there without any foresight. IT wouldnt hurt me really just to cut each tape in half when capturing to file i guess, but it is annoying.

Re: Revert back to Premiere 1.0?

Couple things... I guess one option for me is to wait for stable drivers for Canopus DVStorm, then i can use the canopus codec and edit 24p footage as regular 60i, just like your Matrox card... or

Adobe will put out a patch... yeah... a patch... right... ;)

So i put in a buig report, as did many others... what do we do now? Can we really expect anything???
