i have a piece of music that i have reversed. the music played fine originally but now that its reversed it sounds like the louder moments are clipping. when i watch the mixer (i'm using vegas), i don't see any overage. anyone know why this happens or how can i fix this?

btw the piece is The Oven's Piano Trio No. 7 in Bb.

What format are you using for the sound file? Mp3? Or something uncompressed? What software are you editing in? I never work with anything other than .wav files on PC and never compressed. Depending on you application, the use of MP3's can be problematic. Your best bet if you are using an MP3 or other compressed format is to render it out uncompressed as 16 bit either 44.1 or 48k.

Post up a wave of what you got.

Piano notes have a great deal of their harmonics in the sustain. Never listened to it backwards but I would guess you would hear a nice fade up to a peak with a sudden drop off. That might sound a lot like something got clipped.

Anyways, post up a small clip of what you are talking about.

ooh, i bet you're right and its the file format. i just ripped it off of a cd using windows media player and it probably defaulted to wmv. i'll try ripping it as a wav and see if that makes a difference. if not, i'll post what i'm getting for you to check out. thanks.
