Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

The link you have chosen is not in current existance.
Please go back and make a different selection.

That's what shows up.

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

I'd say that there's death. But it looks like there should be more of the file to download. I've never seen that before.

Pretty cool, by the way.

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

Okay, that link worked. It's loading right now. You'll want to modify your first post and fix the link.

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

For some reason it stops loading about 3/4 of the way through. In the middle of the wrench beating sequence.

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

Alright guys, I'm uploading a fresh copy at 512 (a little less, but yuo can still see it, and this one has better sound effects, and i just went over the histogram with it, so i'm trying to understand that), i'll put it right here when it's done, maybe in a half hour. Sorry for the inconvenience (it does do a lot for building it up though :) )

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

Hey! wrench beating sequence could mean a number of things!

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

It works. IT looks very frenetic, in a good way. SOmehow the part where the guys are getting out of the car is one of my favorite parts. I think you did a good job of shooting around what you couldn't show, the only problem is what sells that is good sound effects. The stuff you used worked in that you knew what it was supposed to be, but still didn't quite fit. Overall, I liked it. Well done.

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

Yeah the sound effects need definite work, and we're probably not even done editing, for the beginning, we wanted that quick cut\fast paced\violent look. So you're never really sure of what's happening, and most is implied, so we don't have to show too much. The second half is somewhat slower, a little more deep. Some dialogue was lost, so you're probably missing some. And the song goes "i want you... i want you ellen..." once at the end, and once in the middle, (it's from the lost highway soundtrack, i can't take it out haha), but overall, it'll look better once we do some better foley on it.
Thanks for the comments,
Josh

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

I waited and I waited and this is what I get...Man that put me off my popcorn ;)

I'm not a big fan of violent stuff like that, it upsets me somehow.
This piece really upset me so I'd guess you did your job well.

Why did you choose that particular subject matter may I ask?

Like I said...It upset me so it worked. Great job!

SPOILERS (not that it's a huge deal to spoil one of my films, but just in case..)

haha! It wasn't that violent at all! Maybe we have differing opinions (and i'm not upset ,i'm glad you thought it was violent, because i thought it was tame, i'll show you the reshoot :) ), but the wrench beating at the ending was all implied, and the sound effects were horrible. When you see Dan (crowbar, skinny kid, no hat, beating faro), laying on the ground covered in blood, he's actually breathing when it focuses on the stump. In the next movie, I fall on the stump, and we actually show it going through a lifecast filled with blood and guts, of me. haha. it's going to be excellent. but this film really had no story, without the end, it works better as a trailer for the movie to come. the "reshoot" (same project, but with a script, additional scenes, dialogue, bigger cast, MORE GORE), is a 15 page script right now, we'll need to budget it and get the money. But you guys will be the first to see it when we get it done :)

Re: Retribution, Full (FINALLY!)

Gore doesn't mean violence. To me it's more violent when implied because no visual can truly capture the horror of the human imagination (especially on a low budget). It's more about mood, acting, and editing than buckets of blood. Not that gore doesn't have it's time and place as well...
