For my speech class I am doing a pursuasive speech on how supporting big budget studio films at the box office stifles the creativity in the industry and makes it harder for independent films to do well financially. Whether you agree with this is one thing or another, but regardless I need some cited sources for the speech. The main three things I need sources for are:
1. To show how movie executives choose which films get released to the box office.
2. To show that *most* studio producers choose to make and release films based on possible profits and not on creativity and quality of story.
3. To show that many great films are never seen by the public because they were not released to the box offices.
The point of the speech is to motivate the audience to be more proactive about finding good movies instead of just taking what the industry conveniently feeds them (ex. soley relying on previews, etc.)
To me, alot of this speech seems like common knowledge to me, but for the sake of the speech I need factual data to back up my claims so any links or known publications that discuss any of this would be greatly appreciated.
