Resolve hiccuping on playback

Hey all:

I'm editing on the most current version of Resolve (I'd have to check but I think 19.3) and even since last update I've been having an issue where the picture goes out of playback sync with audio. I fix it by pausing playback and re-starting, but it's pretty annoying. I'm using an Ultrastudio 4K Mini to play to an LG TV. Has anyone else had this issue? My research on this shows that it seems to be a known issue and it goes back a while and a couple updates--I feel like I started experiencing it sometime earlier this year.

In particular, no. In general, V19 placed new demands on the system in overall unspecified ways, from AI and feature growth. The Ultrastudio 4k Mini adds an even broader roadmap with it's multitude of I/O pathways. And then, there's the operating system and the question of what pipeline the audio takes, also through the Ultrastudio device and HDMI out I would assume? I use Resolve (Studio) with a PC Decklink card.

In general, I've been through so many Resolve iterations, dating back to V12.5 I think, that the demands have several times stepped up requiring newer hardware, GPU's, processors, memory and OS. V19x caused its share of complications for me too, but is now stable.

It's interesting that you mention this. I've saw this in 19.0. But it came and went briefly. It's like 'Did I see that?'. It was there for a line or two and then it was gone. I saw this maybe 3 times and I wondered if I was really seeing it. I thought, 'Oh no, now what.' and then it was gone. I haven't updated from 19.0, so I don't know if it gets worse.

Running on a PC.

Yes, I experienced this as well. And like you it also started at least a few months ago, if not earlier. It's quite annoying as it can send you into a panic thinking you've somehow gotten your audio out of sync.

Like you I've just had to cope by pausing and re-starting playback.

I'm sure it's not my hardware--I'm on a two year old Mac Studio M1 Max and working with 4K files--I'm even seeing playback issues with ProRes.

This is a real PITA and I hope they resolve (pun intended I guess) it soon.

I agree. It's not our hardware. I have a brand new gaming PC with full-pig processor and graphics card. I've watched the Windows resource meters and memory, processor, and graphics processor are not being taxed. When it does have processing issues, it's the video that will be jumpy, but the audio seems to have priority.

In this case, the video is playing smoothly, but the audio is just out of sync. That is not typical of processing issues.

I am seeing this issue as well, but only when playing out a video to a TV (Sony Bravia) via the UltraStudio 4K Extreme (HDMI).

I am using a grading monitor (connected to the same UltraStudio device via SDI) and a Scarlett audio interface that is connected directly to the computer most of the time. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but I don't notice any lag with the latter setup.
