Reset hour meter

I have an occasion to buy a dvx100e, my question is if the hour meter is possible reset by software or other way? and is it true, what is the way to find the original hours life?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think there is any way to reset the hour meter. There have been reports from users that their hour meters have mysteriously reset, but other then that, I've heard nothing of people being able to reset them purposely.

it is possible that the internal battery dies or is defective. and im pretty sure this is a possible reason why it might reset.

Ask if the vendor would be OK with an injection of sodium pentothal.

yea but it takes WEEEEKS for that internal battery to die.... the camera has to sit there off for months.
