is anyone here on the board being repped by production company?

how do you'll feel about being repped?

any comments welcome. thanks.

think that if you can be a little more specific with the scenario that you are considering, you will get a more helpful response.

As far as I know you aren't "repped" by a production company, you are repped by an agent. As to production companies, you freelance for them. In LA many of your production companies have a list of individuals that they bring in as contracted freelancers - for example, my husband usually got a 30 days play or pay guaranteed. Call some of the production companies in your area (Dallas is a good sized hub) and see what their requirements are for freelancers.

if you are a music video/commercial director you would be repped by a production company. film directors have agents/managers.

in LA music vid/commercial productions companies rep directors. the usual agreement is a 2 year contract that says that particular director can only direct music video/commercials for that particular production company. its their way of keeping the talent around, production companies put in allot of effort to get directors jobs and the growth of the director. and good ones are very well established in the industry and are in constant communication with labels/agencies about projects. so for directors you potentialy get access to alot of things you might never be able to on your own. if you can get repped by a good pc it is a great thing, the bring alot to the table.

.

it is a good thing if the co repping you is getting you work and putting you in front of the right clients.

why are you asking? do you have offers?

i disolved a contract with a production co in NY because the producer who signed me went to another company. he was the one who brought me in and put my reel out there. i signed with them because of his belief in my work. it was an exclusive 1 year contract for the NY region for commercials. i made a point to have in the contract that i would be let go should he leave the company. he did and i had them release me.

lots of things to think about before you sign anything....

havnt signed any papers yet. but i have been getting tracks from them to write treatments for. they are super cool and working hard to get me cool tracks to write for. its a strange time in the video biz right now..not alot of money and alot of the big name dir have been takcing smaller projects that young/upstart dir would usualy be getting. anyway, the first vid i wrote a treatment for was so close to happening, asking how much time i needed for post but it fell through, which is kinda of a bumber cause the idea was pretty cool and so was the track. oh well....the guys at the prod co are just like "hang in there man, it will happen".

KOVAROVA where do you live? are you repped by a pc now? have you done any new vids since the last one you posted? btw i totaly dig that video/song...
