Replicating the glow of a computer monitor

I'm shooting a scene that takes place in a dark office with no windows and one actor sitting in front of a computer screen. Thet screen is flashing with images and the light is reflecting on the actor's face.

In test shots, the light from an actual computer monitor isn't quite enough light to make the scene work.

Anyone have any good suggestions for ways to replicate the look of a computer monitor flashing like this?

I'm shooting with an XH-G1.

Thanks!

You could probably use a movie projector pointed at the face of your actor. It would have the cool effect of having the images actually appearing on their face.

video projector or intellibeam style light bounced off a bounce card taped to the computer screen.

Theres also the cheap and easy way of getting some led lights and hiding them while they are on a switch or dimmer that someone is controlling. Because its motivated by a computer monitor, you don't have t worry so much about the CRI or color temp of the led so much and you can just buy the cheap stuff. Maybe put some opal diffusion on it to give it an even softer look.

Great suggestions! I'll do some tests and see what works best!

Can you turn the brightness way up and fill the screen with white?

I usually use a small fluorescent and forget the flickering. TVs do that but computer monitors don't have to.

I was thinking of that but it would be missing any 'flicker' from the 'flashing with images' requirement the original poster had...

Perhaps some sort of 'twinkle' light like a set of Christmas lights behind a diffusion screen.
