Replacing Screw Mount on Camera

It seems that the screw mount(the piece of metal where you screw in the tripod mount) on the bottom of my DVX100a has chipped. Very sad and very annoying, i know, but would anyone know a cheap and effective way of replacing it?
I removed the piece of plastic covering up the other screws and most of the screw bit but am afraid to open the camera up further for fear of damaging it. Has anyone ever replaced this small piece? If you've had someone replace it for you how much did it cost? Thanks in advance!

hmmm, the problem is it seems that thread deals largely with the baseplate being damaged. I'm talking about the screw mount. Imagine, if you will, attaching a tripod and then wiggling the camera wildly around on the tripod (I did not do this) and then taking it off and seeing that the screwmount was cracked. This is my problem. Where can I get the screwmount replaced?

While you can get the camera serviced and have the mount replaced, the cracking problem isn't all that uncommon. That is the reason that I pointed you to the thread from above. Its a permanent fix and likely less expensive than having the mount replaced.
