Replacing Multicam track

I have 15 tracks going in a multicamera set up. I want to replace 2 on the tracks with different versions of the same angle (its a music video). Is there a way to do this without messing up all the edits I am happy with?

Replace the media in the Project Media window. This will cause all of the events that use that media to use thew new version.

Thank you so much! This is a huge help. I just did that and it worked. I had no idea one could replace footage like that. Vegas just blew my mind.

You're welcome. You can also add Media FX at the media level. This will also affect all of the events that use that media. This is great for color correcting cameras since it only has to be done once at the media level to correct all events.

Okay, but what if I replace the clip and it doesn't quite seem to be in sync now?

Can I expand the multicamera track out to the original, seperate tracks somehow and change the sync?

No, but if you hold down the Alt key while hovering your mouse over the event, it will change to show you that you are in Slip Edit mode. Now drag your cursor over the event while holding down the Alt key and it will slip the footage back and forth within the event. The Vegas Preview will turn to a split screen to show you the exact in and out points. This should let you fix sync problems easily.

Wait so once you put tracks in multicam you cant seperate them? I just posted a similar question about color correcting just one camera now that the editing is done but cant find out how to uncollapse them. I see you said something about the media level, how can i just color correct one of the cameras? its actually like certain clips in 4 different files on 1 track, I dont want to color correct the whole file like "Tape 1.avi" there are just a few parts of that whole file that is on a certain section that needs to be corrected.

There is no way to separate the multicam tracks when using Vegas' built in multi-cam. That's why people still purchase 3rd party multi-cam tools like VASST Ultimate S Pro, VASST InfinitiCAM, or Excalibur. These tools keep your original tracks and built an additional master track giving you much more flexibility. Sony's multi-cam tool is a "one way street".

Right-click on the event that you want to correct and choose Select in Project Media List. Then in the Project Media right-click the media and choose Media FX... This will apply the FX to the media and any event that uses that media will be corrected.

I dont want to color correct the whole file like "Tape 1.avi" there are just a few parts of that whole file that is on a certain section that needs to be corrected.

Then you'll have to add keyframes to just turn the color correction on and off in those areas. At that point, it might be easier to add the color correction to the events. It's up to you.

Don't forget, any video FX can be applied at the Media, Track, or Event. Use the place that makes the most sense for the edit.

That sucks. I guess I can just find the clip the first time and color correct it and then copy that Effect and paste it along huh? Only thing is its a 2 hour program :-/ Thanks though, I will know to use premiere pro for now on. It had crashed before so I had to just get it done in that, but I got it working. Go figure the day after I am done editing the mulicam shoot huh?
