Does anyone know if there is an automated away of jumping between two channels of video so you see one frame of the first channel and then one frame of the second channel?
You can toggle between two tracks with the track enable/disable controls. But as far as making a video that bounces continuously that would require some work in Motion or a boatload of manual razor edits.
what happens if you go to cinema tools and change the frame rate to 2x the frame rate do you get:
a - two copied frames
b - one frame and one black frame
b - if it's one frame then one black frame then it's easy, just line up the both clips shift the lower one one frame and use bending.
that would be a fast solution.
a - you can probably do it in the other scenario as well, same blending, but you will have to add a clip in the middle with one frame white one frame black, easy automation in photoshop.
not sure what will happen if you double the framerate in final cut, but probably if you turn off blending you might get two of the same frames scenario.
I have done this before for the purposes of converting 50i footage to 50p for slow motion. I used a strobe effect which flashed the video track white and then black and then I used that for a luma matte to hide one of the video streams. You can read about how I did it well in the past using Adobe Premiere 6.5 here: http://productions.andrewgentle.com/tutorials/deinterlaced_slow_motion/
