Replacement LAV for ew100

Hi I just got a used Sennheiser ew100 system. It is in good shape, but I don't like the sound of the me2 lav.

I was wondering if anyone has replaced theirs with a MKE2, Countryman B3 or a tram. Which part number? I would be nice to get something that could also be used wired (I would need dome kind of power supply I am sure) if I need a second wired lav.

or this

I have a wired MKE2 (which I love!), so I am leaning twoard the ew version of that so they match.

Thanks

MKE2 are great. For the money I would get a Sanken cos11. The EMW is also a nice budget compromise.

Matching lavs won't make much of a difference, even more so if one is wired and the other is wireless. Depending on the person or wardrobe, mixers will often use different lavs on different people.

Cheers

thats about right , but i use sankens on 80% of all the shotes , the last 20% is for b-6 and dpa mostly , usially depends more on the garderobe and extra loud voice then matching to people voices .
about tram iwill say avoid this **** , it works 2 years and then drasticaly change it characteristics becouse the sweat penetrating to the capsule , also the courpuse of the mike get ctacked
for cheap good solution , the emw is much better solution

I know the question is already answered, but I want to agree and throw in my vote for the Sanken cos11 as top pick and the b6 as second place. I use both of these and this is my order of preferrence as well.

I have an mke2 and it works well and sounds good... but the cos11 is smaller and overall a nicer mic. I also love the rubber thingies that let you gaffer the cos11 down just inside of a garment. If you buy one you'll see what I'm talking about.

Well I went to my local sound shop needing the mic tomorrow and they were out of the MKE2. They said the AT899 was "almost as good" and if I don't like it I can trade the value of it (- labor and connector) twoard the MKE2 (300). I haven't used the thing yet, but did I make a mistake? It would have cost me more than the labor to rent a decent lav for tomorrow and friday and was darnd sure I wasn't going to shoot with the me2, so I thought it was a safe bet. I am not really using it for interviews (this time), just nat sound for a teacher while the boom covers the class. Is this mic good enough if I need to use wireless in a pinch? I always go wired (MKE2 or MKE104) for interviews if at all possible (and I plan to boom the Oktava on channel 2 once the durned thing gets here). Is this much of a step up from the me2 (I bet it is a big step up). If I need to do a two person interview could I use the MKE2 wire on one person and the AT899 wireless on the other with decent results?

Oh ya, they didn't carry Sanken darnit!

Matt's right, the cos11's are great. But I love and still go to my Trams b4 my 11's. The accessories for hiding, taping and caging are great. I don't have the problem of sweat ruining the sound and have used them for years.

As always others mileage does and will vary. All good.

Great sound is half the picture!

About 4 years ago I bought a complete sound package off a nice fella from NYC. He was retiring and put his complete kit (tso much great stuff) on ebay. He wouldn't break it up, so not many bidders and I won it for a song. FP33, 4 trams, 3 mke2's, Microns ,phone patch, cables, connectors you name it I got it. I recently brought the MKE2's out to Sennheiser for a checkup /cleaning (takes a special tool to take off the cap)and bit of soldering on one connector. The tech told me they were at least 10 years old and in excellent condition. The Trams were checked out at Trew last spring and they were of the same vintage and excellent. The man who sold them did pro sprots for NBC for years...lots of sweaty athletes, they have since been around the world from the Amazon jungle in Brasil to the Northwest Territories lots of nasty conditions. So if I were gonna buy new I would buy MKE2 or Trams. They last and sound great and have not let me or their previous owner down. YMMV.
