replace Satchler 75mm ball to 100mm??

There are numerous 75mm to 100 mm ball adapters out there allowing 75 mm heads to work in a 100 mm ball on a tripod or hi hat. Is this what you are looking for?
 
The problem is that the 75mm ball's screw on sachtler is not that long so with the adapter i don't get enough thread to grasp onto anything.
 
Yea, a buddy of mine had the same problem. Would a longer bolt work? Double nut the bolt to remove it from the head and then find a longer one at a hardware store or online... Make sure there isn't a set screw hiding inside the head somewhere. There has to be a workaround even if you have to mill the adaptor a bit.

My FSB-8 has the same issue so I contacted Satchler/Vitec in LA.

Their response, "You can use part number SZU10E2802 which is longer than the standard tie down stud. If you would like to place an order, please fax your order into 845-268-0113 Attn: customer service with your complete contact information and shipping address. I believe the price is about $70.

I solved it by adding a large washer at the flat part of the ball (to expand the base a bit). This way i don't have to use the "100 to 75 adapter" and the bold sticks out a lot so i can use the tightening knob.
