Has anyone ever had this done?

My camera recently freaked out. Images on the lcd were all red, white balancing produced overly saturated yellows, and there were lots of lines running through. In short ... just really bad images. It's not the lcd, however. It plays back nice and clear/smooth images.

So I took it to an authorized Panny dealer and they said "the whole video board needs to be replaced" and at a cost of almost $800.

So ... needless to say, I was shocked.

The camera is only about 3 years old ... and doesn't have a ton of hours on it.

Is this odd? Anyone dealt with this before?
