Repeted frame every 5 frames when shoting in 24P HDV (1080i) and editing 1080i30(60i)

I shoting a HDV footage in 24p with a Sony V1 and I uploud to a HDV project 1080i30 (60i) . In this situation appears 1 repeted frame every 4 frame. The 5th frame is equal the 4th, the 10th is equal the 9th, and go on until the 30Th is equal the 29th. What´s the reason of that? Is it all rigth? At the end of the project, my target is to generate a tiff file. And in this tIFF file thise repeateds frames don´t occurs. In this case (tiff file) apears two frames no so well defined in some group of frame, but not repeted, I think is that the way of pull down system works. But why the frames looks diferents in the project of Adobe ( with repeted frame) from the TIFF sequence?

This is simply the 24 into 30 pulldown effect. Try switching your timeline to 1080i60 instead of a 1080p30.

If you do some research on your camera's 2:3 pulldown, you can find out how to convert it back to its original framerate in post.

Thanks Victors. Could you tell me how can I change my timeline to 1080i60. . My ideia is first to generate a dvd so I intend to keep a 30p 0r 60i project. But In the future I intend to use some sequence in film(24p) project and I don´t know how to remove de pull down frames.

If you're working with Final Cut: right click or control click on the name of your sequence in the browser, select "Settings...", then click "Load Sequence Preset...", then locate the HDV 1080 60i preset, click OK two times, and you're done.

There are some great resources for pull-down information on the internet, and you should check it out because its important to understand if you even need pulldown in the first place. 30p is a great option for HDV users who do not want to deal with pulldown. As long as you're going out to DVD, TV, or internet. (Not film or international distribution).

If you do need to shoot in 24p and want to edit at it's actual framerate, you can do a process called reverse telecine in Final Cut and Cinema Tools.

The problem is that I am using Adobe and I didn´t find this option. When I open a new project (in Adobe CS3) there is a option 1080i30(60i) preset. There is no option for only 60i. In this project the timeline apears with 30 frames per second. But, I still not understand why in the Adobe the sequence (30 frames per second) apears with a repeted frame each 5 frames and the TIFF file generated by the same sequence don´t apears de repeated frames and still keep 30 frames per second

It might be because Premier only reads one field at a time. It assumes you have interlaced footage. I would output a test DVD and use that to judge if you're settings are correct. Avoid making the doubled frames your first or last frames in any clip.

My camera (sony HVR-v1) generate a file interlaced 60i when I uploud the tape, even a shoted in 24p. The camera record more fields in the tape. I think because de pull down system. I have tried to do some teste as you sad and I didn´t got any conclusion yet. I am locking for a standrd in adobe project or TIFF file. I don´t know I what have consider for my input - the adobe project or TIFF sequence?
