repairing a sennheiser power module.

hey everyone,

I have an old sennheiser me66 with a power module(phantom/battery), the mic pin on the inside part no longer makes contact with the power module. So I get no audio as a result. Now, I bought a new power module from bhphoto yesterday, now my question is this, can i use the same warranty from the new one to repair the old one? They are practically inseparable. What do you think?

thanks.

No!

What a cheapskate!

It is totally unethical, and is actually fraud, to buy a new piece of equipment and try and use the guarantee of the new piece to repair an old unit that is out of guarantee.

lol! that's why I asked here. :) Alright, I will print my old bhphoto receipt and mail it off. They say the cost of repair should not exceed half the price of retail price. The problem? Retail price on their website is an insane $300+ but bhphoto is $199. So now if it costs more than or close to $199.99 then I am better off buying a new one for cheap.

what do you think?

Did you contact Sennheiser directly? Their repair department does a great job and they are pretty quick too. BTW, you won't get away with the bait and switch, everything is tracked by serial number.

Now bhphoto sells the units for $199. Do you think it is worth it to get it repaired if it the costs exceeds 199? thanks.
