So, I thought I should post about this company that will repair corrupted files because when all hope was lost, they came to the rescue for me.
I had used adobe on location to record straight to an external with my hvx. Well, there must have been a speed issue because 13 of the 35 files were corrupt and would not play. There was information there based on the file size, but errors would occur once I tried to open them in any program. I was absolutely freaking out because the corrupted files were the most important shots.
I found a company with a product called Treasured. Basically you download this software and it analyzes your clip and sends a sample of the corrupted file to this company in Spain. Then, they send you a 5 second clip showing you that it is repairable. If you are satisfied, you then give them the okay and they custom build you a software kit to repair your clips - and as long as they are the same format and same framerate, you can repair any number of files that are corrupted.
So, you run a test with a clip once you recieve this software. It will repair the clip and you will be able to play it, but it is watermarked. This is the catch - to get rid of the watermark you have to pay for the software. The price can vary depending on the problem with the files. In my instance, it was $219 dollars. Once I payed, they sent me the key to the program, and I went to town and repaired all the clips. It was WELL WORTH THE MONEY!
One thing that stood out about this company was that they were communicating with me by email. Not just some automated machine. These were real people that cared about my footage!
Anyway, they fixed my priceless footage and it was totally worth it. I just had to write something on here to share the good news and give people some hope that have corrupted files!
