Renting a mini 35, what else do I need?`

I am renting a M2 Mini 35 next weekend and what to know what else I need with it. What lens should I use? 50mm?
Do I need a monitor like a marshal or can I get away with out one.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Hey, Brian.

I've been an M2 user for about a year and a half. Based on your seemingly simple question, my first thought is that you "really" need to spend some time learning about this or you'll have a horrible shoot.

I DP'd on a shoot a couple weels ago and the client wanted a Brevis adapter so we rented one and fortunately, it's easy to pick up the fundamentals if you already know how cinema adpaters work. But if you don't, times will be rough.

Here's a top-level set of things to learn:

1. Choose your fixed lenses according to your needs;

Ooops....previous message continued...

A. Focal lengths....a 24mm, 50mm, and 85mm are basic but you may need some other lenses...I don't know your shoot.
B. Choose a mount type ie, Canon, Nikon, PL, etc.

2. Learn about back-focus....
3. Learn the interplay between the iris on the lens and the iris on your camera.
4. The image will be upside down so you will need a monitor (Marshall is fine). You'll have to mount it upside down.

Best of luck to you....but spend a lot of time learning this thing and practicing. It's all good stuff to learn as it's all basic photography stuff that you'll enjoy!

Orangemoon, thanks for the info

I think I am going to pass on the M2 for the shoot based on your advice
I just don't have the time to play with it before hand.
Thanks a ton for the advice I am sure its saved me some major troubles.
