Rental Business

Just curious if anyone here has dabbled in the equipment rental business (cameras, mics, lenses, etc). It seems like a lot of rental shops also sell equipment, which may make up for any losses they incur in the rental department. Curious if something like this could potentially be a good investment, or just doomed to failure from the start. Any thoughts?

I guess it depends on where you live and what kind of demand there is for a service like that (and what kind of competition you have in the area).

It depends a lot upon the location of the business. LA has a lot of rental houses and they are all very busy every day. Some do also have retail sales, but the bulk of them are really rental houses first and foremost.
