I'm wondering why with todays cgi technology being so good, no one has attempted to make this awsome classic sci fi by Arthur C. Clarke? The book was brilliant yet no one puts it to screen it?

Re: rendevous with rama

fincher and morgan freeman have been talking abot it for some time now...doesnt seem to be going anywhere sooon.

Re: rendevous with rama

If anyone can dig up their e-mail adress it would be you Rich ;D...maybe they just need a little push

Re: rendevous with rama

Wow. That would be great if they made a film. Rama is a cool story, but if I ever get the right budget, I'd like to shoot J.P. Hogan's Inherit The Stars. A classic. It's set in the near future, 2015 or so. The first lunar base is being built, during which they uncover a human astronaut buried in a shallow grave near a crater. The guy is in a red space suit and he's been there 50,000 years! And he's human!

Re: rendevous with rama

I'd also like to see someone make "This perfect Day" by Ira Levin.

Always thought I'd Take a stab at that one myself oneday.

Anybody read this?

I can't wait to see what they do with it.

If they went on to do Ender's Shadow, that would be great too.[/quote]

That entry has been there for SOOOOO long. The project is dead.

Which is ridiculous. If there's ever a book which screams to be a kick-ass movie, that's it.

Re: rendevous with rama

The sequel could be a so great movie, too (Speaker for the Dead)

I hope to see both one day on the big screen.

Re: rendevous with rama

Another good Arthur C. Clarke novel that I think would make an excellent film is "A Fall of Moondust" -- about a moon land-cruiser that has an accident and sinks into the lunar dust... a rescue attempt follows. The book's a real page-turner!

I think what makes many of Clarke's novels so transferrable to film is the fact that the technology involved in his futuristic fictional machines/events is loosely based on "real" science.

Re: rendevous with rama

someone was telling me about a book, and i cant remember what the hell it was...i believe it was an Arthur C. Clarke book. about a race of aliens that looked like elephants that came down to earth and starting taking over. ring a bell? i remember there being some interesting characteristics about how they operated...anyone know this book?

Re: rendevous with rama

The book you're referring to (Elephant like invaders) is Footfall by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. They start the invasion by raining asteroids down before they begin their ground assaults. Excellent book.
