renders slow down with raylight

Hi

I have asked this question before but have never been able to sort the issue out.

When i render in vegas with raylight, normally 720p (pal) my renders always start out fast and then slow down to a crawl. no effects just raw footage.

My machine specs are : Q6700 quad extreme, 4gb ram, XP 64bit, GS8800gts, 2 x 500sata in raid 0, 1 x 250 for OS and swap, 1 x 250 for temp and spare.

My machine renders fine with MAYA 8.5 and AE7. all other apps work perfectly aswell.

I was hoping that the issue would sort it self out when I got Vegas8, but it does the same thing.
A friend of mine is also running on XP 64bit and his always renders fine.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a work around for it?

Thanks
Nick

You might look at your memory usage when running a render with all other applications closed. Since Vegas and Raylight are both 32-bit apps, they run under Wow64 (the 32 bit emulator) and are limited to about 2GB of ram. If your memory usage gets up to 2GB the system it will start to bog down. Close other apps and remove unneeded background tasks like virus checkers, updaters etc. When you get a workstaion from Dell for example there are about 10 bloatware applications which need to be removed to make it usable for editing.
Also consider running Vista 32 whcih would be more efficient for 32-bits apps.
