Renders Hang

This may be related to my lack of experience editing HD in Vegas Pro 9c.
Renders are hanging at various stages.
I have Raylight Ultra.
MXF files are from HPX 170 P2 cards.
Been experimenting with 720p 30fps, and all seemed well.
The lastest footage is 720p 60fps.
Now when rendering I don't have a 60fps template to choose from , so I use the HVD 720 30 template.
Is this my undoing?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks David, got that.
Tried to render another small clip about 23 seconds long.
Seventy-precent into the render preview went red, render stopped and window popped up telling me I don't have enough virtual memory.
Machine is Intel Core Duo CPU, 2.53 GHz, 1.96 GB of RAM.
Footage is 720p 30.
Running Raylight Ultra with Vegas 9.0c.
I have had successful renders with these MXF files previously.
My "C" drive crashed recenlty. It as 10,000 RPM.
It was replaced with a 7200 RPM.
I was told I wouldn't see much difference in speed.
Now I wonder if that is part of the issue.
Likley not.
OR, am I just asking too much of my computer?

well, it ain't your 7200 RPM drive speed. It Might be a lack of ram and/or a lack of a page file set up on a 2nd drive. also, uncompressed avi is super taxing on any system. my p4 machine with 2gig ram could never handle rendering it.

Heard that Vegas doesn't really benefit from more than 2 GB of RAM.
So am I tossing money down a man hole to up it to 4 GM of RAM?
Page file setup. How do I access that and what I do.
My technophobe, old and kinda stupid.

Ram wise, in 32bit, vegas is limited to using around 3.72gb, so adding 2 more gb isn't a bad idea - ram for your system shouldn't cost too much but I would consider just buying a new computer, (core 2 or core 2 quad with 4+gb ram is good enough, and relativity cheap these days)

page file/virtual memory settings:

for vista 64 (in xp, its located in a similar spot), control panel -> system -> system properties -> peformance (click on settings) -> click on advanced tab -> "change" button under virtual memory -> see what the hell is going on in there.

by default, its system managed (allocating around 8gb). knowing how much space uncompressed AVI takes, you might need to manually double the amount allocated. also, if the paging file sits on a drive that is close to being full, it means your virtual memory is crippled by limited drive space. vegas could be "hanging" cause it simply has run out of room to write data in the page file, thus giveing you the "low virtual memory" BS. I strongly recommend you move the page file off your OS drive (C) to another drive where you can allocate enough space. that way, your OS drive isnt working double time. its also a general rule in video editing to have all your data sit on a separate drive. 500gb 7200 rpm WD black drives can be had for like $50-$70.
