rendering

i thought of it as in editing, but this guy in my class mentioned rendering on camera. i paid him no mind, but i just wanted to check this board to get the facts.

Oohhhh

Well I can't explain what goes on as the image moves through the lens and into the CCD's but have never heard this term before.

Barry?

its quite possible the guy didn't know what he was talking about? or maybe he does.

in my experience rendering is basically ANY act of compositing multiple sources to a single location. i mean that can be super basic like just sticking a CG or overlayed text on top of a video source downstream, or as complex as rendering effects in magic bullet or creating a 3d animation in a 3d tool.

I think of rendering as the mathematical calculation of formulas leading to an end result. I probably didn't help at all.

Rendering is a state change. Like putting your obnoxious neighbor into a 55 gallon drum and setting it over a fire, then letting the melted fat drain out through some cheese cloth.
