Rendering?

I'm shooting with a DVX100A on 24p. My goal is to submit my feature (which I'm currently fiming) into festivals. I've done test rendering to see what happens, and I've heard a lot of different stories. Basically what I need to know is...

1. What do I set my Preferences to (e.g., 24 (film), 23.97 (film), or 29.96).
2. Do I set it to Widescreen?
3. Do I render to DVD NTSC? Or do I render to a Widescreen format?
4. Do I need to adjust every segment of film in the Pan/Crop setting to 16:9?

Thanks for any help.

There's more than one workflow, but here's what I'd recommend.
  • Shoot 24P advanced (2:3:3:2 pulldown)
  • Shoot 4:3 and mask off the LCD so you can compose for 16:9
  • Bring your footage into a 23.97 fps timeline and let Vegas remove the pulldown
  • Crop all the events on your timeline to 16:9--frame to taste
  • For a widescreen anamorphic DVD--Render as DVD Architect 24p NTSC Widescreen video stream
  • For a widescreen letterboxed DVD--Render as DVD Architect 24p NTSC video stream

Thanks for the info. It's much appreciated. One more question, though. I burned some footage using DVD Architect 24p NTSC Widescreen video stream and on the template the note for audio is "NONE". Sure enough, when I burned it there was no audio. What's the problem here?

You render the video and the sound separately. Render the sound as an AC-3 file. Use a region (loop) so that you render the exact same area both times.

RGB Problem

RGB Problem

Do you know if this will help with an RGB problem I was having???

I rendered some footage, both video and audio simultaneously, and I keep getting problems with the RGB setting. It creates a stutter when played back.

So if I render video and audio separately, will this take care of that problem, or is this completely unrelated??

Thanks.
