rendering times

I'm rendering some color correction on an 8 minute clip. It is a microsoft dv avi file. I added a hint of orange to the entire piece. My machine tells me this will take two hours. I have an asus mianboard with 800 front side bus. 1,5 ggs of 400 mhz ram a seperate 250 gig hard drive for video 7200 rpm, intel pentium 4 prescott- 3 ghz cpu and still two hours for a simple render...Am I missing something or just expecting too much.

rendering, rendering , rendering......

Are you rendering on the same machine you are typing this post?

IE alone will burn 25-50+ MBs. Some antivirus software with "protect all" will crush your performance as well.

doggy, this machine is lean and mean and runs as little as possible in startup. does not go on internet, does not run antivirus, screensavers or any other resource hogging software. The only software it has loaded it that which is used to produce video.

internet explorer was deleted before I added win 2000 sevice pack as that's the only time it can be deleted.

Rendering time is dependant on many things unfortunatly, but...

if your clip has a lot of motion, render times jump.

An 8 minute clip, of someone in a chair, with no motion will render much faster than your 8 minute clip.

Remember, you must suffer for your art.

Really? Everything is slow on my computer, so I never noticed either way. . .
