I'm trying to export a 12 min. SD video as a microsoft DV AVI from Premiere CS3 and it's projecting it's going to take 2 hours to render.
I have a q6600 (quad core), 3.5 gigs of ram, 7200 rpm SATA hard drives (program, scratch disk, and pagefile on separate drives). I noticed that my CPU is not maxed out during export and also that there is an unequal load across the 4 cores (my fourth core in particular is showing very high fluctuations in load). During export, the CPU shows an average usage of about 30% across the cores. However, when I render previews in the timeline, all cores show 100% load until the clip is rendered.
What is my rendering bottleneck if not my CPU? Is it my RAM? Pagefile? And why the hell is my fourth core flipping out? And why does this not happen to me during preview rendering?
Man, if SD is this slow, what the heck am I going to do with 1080p????
