Rendering for Web Viewing

I'm just wondering what everyone's thinks (in their mind) is the best format to render video, if sharing clips over the web.

I have a bunch of clips I'd like to share with friends, they are about 4-6 minutes a piece... and are of local musicians at a festival... so I'd like to have decent audio quality as well.

I wasn't sure if it's best as a WMV file? or as some form of DivX or Xvid. (which I've only played around with a bit... and my results were still large file size with crappy quality).

Even if I could output them to something similar as the HiRes version of the trailers that movies have on their sites. eg. WandG.com, the windows hi-res trailer is only 10megs (for a 2min clip).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

j

- Update -

I rendered the video as a windows avi (progressive).

And am now using "Windows Media Encoder" to take the .avi file and compress it to a WMV file... and it's working good.
(It gives alot of good encoding options, while remaining 'first time user' friendly)

However.. if anyone ever finds a good/small output direct from Vegas, it would still be nice to know :)
