Rendering for DVD questions

Okay, so reading the instructions for getting my files rendered and compressed for DVD Architecht (I've got Vegas 5 and DVD Archi 2) it tells me I'll be rendering the MPEG-2 using the DVD Architect 24p NTSC video stream template which is only the video and then I'll have to render the audio as AC-3. If I understand this correctly I'll be rending my movie as two seperate files and then I'll have to open both of those in a DVD Archi project.

How do I know my video and audio are going to synch? Or am I not understanding how to render my project so it is compressed and ready to go for DVD Archi? For now I'm not making a menu based project though I don't believe that makes a difference.

Pick a region -- a loop area. Render the MPEG file with "Render Loop Section Only" checked; do NOT change the loop area, and then do the same with the AC-3 file.

Use the same filename for both: "MyMovie.mpg" and "MyMovie.ac3." Render them to the same folder.

Bring the MPEG file into DVDA. DVDA will automatically bring the AC-3 file in, if you named it the same thing.

Thanks so much, for the response. I also see that I can render the file as a PCM (I just realized I need to spend $200 for the AC-3 crap) but I don't see a PCM file option. What is PCM? Sorry, I'm not that tech savy when it comes to file formats.

What i like to do is customize my 24p DVDA stream and add audio. Haven't had problems doing it, but DVDA still compresses my audio.

Of course it does. The audio needs to be either PCM or AC-3. You're just lengthening your DVD prepare time. Also, if you've mixed any 5.1 surround audio, it'll be downmixed to simple stereo.

Does anyone know what the play time is on either a 25gb Blu-Ray or HD/DVD disc??
