Rendering Error???

I keep getting this:
Render Error: Insufficient disk space. Free up space with the Render Manager and retry. So, of course I've freed up everything I could in Render Manager and still the same message appears. I've shut down and restarted and now it's really started to hinder my project.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

If you're sure there is enough space in your render folder (wherever you've set it to), then I might consider creating a new sequence and possibly even a new project. Create a new project with a new sequence. Copy and paste the contents of the current timeline into the new one. Close out the old project, save the new one and see if that does the trick at all. We've run into that a few times here, but usually its been Xsan related, which I'm guessing isn't your case. Good luck.

cheers.

Nope... Still didn't work... I have only 1.5 GB of space left on my external HD... where my Render Folders and Scratch Disk are located. Any thoughts... possible there's a minimum of 5 GB needed to perform all renders???

Again, your help is much appreciated

Well what type of footage are you dealing with and how big of a project are you dealing with? 1.5 GB actually isn't that much space depending upon the size of the project being done. You may actually not have enough to do your render. If you do have enough to do it, FCP shouldn't freak out (it will use every last byte, and as long as that last byte on the HDD is all FCP needs then it should work).

So perhaps try hooking up an external hard drive (with loads of free space), and set your render folder to there.

Cheers.

Yah also at 1.5GB left, you might want to really get that new HDD quite quickly. I think most would recommend at least 10% of your HDD capacity to be left open (and some as much as 20%), for stability purposes. So if you're at 1.5GB left you might be hindering your HDD performance at this point. Just something to think about.

cheers.
