Rendering as a MOV

What's the trick here ? Do I need Quicktime Pro to render a quicktime (MOV) file ? I try everything (VV6 & VV7) but it either kraps out or the MOV files are incredible huge. Any suggestions here ? Thanks in advance. . .

If you want to do a QT H.264, you need QT7 Pro. Apple doesn't let you use the codec to render from Vegas.

But other than H.264, QT files ARE huge. I rarely ever use the format.

The QT files that we are downloading in the DVX music videos sect in this forum etc are about 40 mb average for a 4 min video. Are those H.264 ?

It's a bit misleading to say that H.264 is definitely better, because WM9 *is* H.264.

But the tests I ran between WMV and QT H.264, WMV came out slightly better.

yeah i was just wondering because nearly every clips i've seen compressed with h.264 has been alot nicer looking hten most wmv's.

watching that, it seems weird (to me) that the wmv is better.
i do admit that the emv is compressed better though.

but pause both when the text comes in.
the white text is alot more "real white" on the wmv in comparison to the .mov

I usually export my MOV's using the Sorenson3 codec. if you look under the export options you can find what works best for you. my suggestion is to run some tests on a short clip, and when you find out what works best, save it so you don't have to keep remembering it.

my 4 minute music vids usually run about 50-60MB, but i love that you can pause or skip ahead in mov's whenever you want/ go frame by frame/look nicely embedded on a page.
