If your project will be mastered onto a 60i format, then you need to add pulldown.
3-2 (normal) pulldown is normal pulldown. For mastering, I'd go with this.
2-3-3-2 advanced pulldown is trickier and named advanced for a reason. It gives slightly (neglibly?) better quality if you need to get rid of the pulldown. For mastering, there's no point in this.
The other option is to make a 24p master. You can do this for DVD, HDCAM SR, files for computer playback.
2- I think David Jimerson has a good 24p tutorial stickied here.
If you're rendering to DV, if you don't intend to do any more editing with the footage, use 2-3 pulldown.
If you intend to edit the footage further (or if someone else will), use 2-3-3-2 pulldown.
If you're rendering for DVD, use the DVD Architect 24p templates. The template says it's adding 2-3 pulldown, but what it's really adding is pulldown flags so that a DVD player can add the pulldown later.
If you're rendering any other kind of format, you don't have to worry about pulldown. You can just render a straight 24p file.
Use the DVD Architect 24p templates under MPEG-2. That's all you have to worry about. They are already optimized. Don't modify them.
But there is no 2-3-3-2 option for MPEG-2. You could render a DV file with 2-3-3-2 pulldown and import it into DVDA, and DVDA will be able to remove the pulldown to make a DVD-compliant 24p MPEG-2 file, but don't do it that way. You'll only increase your authoring time in DVDA by hours.
Just use the DVD Architect 24p templates in Vegas.
