Rendering 24p in Vegas 6

I am sure this is novice question, but the solution has eluded me.

I've shot an 8-minute video on my DVX100B in 24p mode (f5 or f6 preset)

I successfully imported it into VEgas 6 and spent a good amount of time cutting, editing, etc and I have the final piece. When I watch it in Vegas playing it off the .veg screeen it looks fine.

I want to xfer the final product onto a DVD that can be used in most DVD players. When I try to render the video (I've never rendered anything before) the final product is messed up. Generally the video is running too fast or two slow, it stutters like the processor was thinking too hard at that moment, and the video isn't synched up with the audio. I selected 24p in render mode, am I duplicating that effort (e.g. removing the frames AGAIN) by doing this?

If anyone has any advice on the BEST way to burn this project to a DVD (what format to render to, should I include the audio track when I import video, should they be saved separately, etc). By "Best" I guess I mean the highest quality method without needing to buy other applications or spending 3 days rendering. I have two weeks to get this finalized and I am a little worried about how little I know about rendering/burning video after I thought the "hard part" was over.

Thanks!

Export under MPEG-2 using the DVD Architect 24p DVD template (widescreen, if it's widescreen). Don't change anything.

Then, render the audio using AC-3. Save it under the same file name.

When you bring the video file into DVD Architect, DVDA will automatically grab the audio with it.

But when you render from Vegas, make sure you're rendering the exact same portion of the timeline. If you're simply rendering the entire project, then you're all set.

Concerning DVD Architect...

I am finally using it for the first time and am a bit confused. David, you answered a question of mine before about how you can import an MPEG-2 video that has been rendered w/o the Architect preset and Architect will then re-render it as you burn the DVD. So to import that video file do you just click -- Insert >> Media?

And I'm just about to render a new project of mine for the DVD using the Architect preset, so do I just do the same to import the seperate audio and video? Or do I insert something like Music/Video Compilation?

Thanks David! Interestingly, I re-rendered it last night Not using the 24p template (I jused used NTSC Video template) and it came out fine, I think. I clicked the "include audio on same track" to make sure and the speed was correct and the sound synched. I am 99% sure I filmed this in 24p mode (used f5 or f6 for all of it on the dvx100) so I am confused why it gets choppy and messed up when I render it using NTSC Video 24p. It's almost like it's trying to drop 6 more frames off my already reduced frame count.

Also, can you use the burn to CD function and select Video CD option to burn a DVD in Vegas or does that just do a VCD? I think when I tried that it said something about rendering to MPEG-1. I had no luck with burning the DVD in Vegas - is DVDA integrated into Vegas or does it need to be loaded stand-alone?

thanks! this is helpful.
