I am importing .avi files, editing them, then exporting to dvd. Do I need to render the footage before I export? It has to encode it anyway, so I am just wondering if it is necessary?

If your editing system has enough horsepower, PPro can playback a timeline in real-time; meaning the specified framerate of the timeline like 24fps or 30 fps. Once you start adding effects and transitions, at some point the system may not be able to keep up with the processing load so it will start dropping the framerate by skipping frames during the playback. Rendering pre-processes the timeline so it can be played at the full framerate.Kugar13 said:If it is not rendered it's not 'real-time'? If it is not real-time what is it? Sincerely, I'm not sure what that it means when it's not real time.
Thanks TeleDan!
